Fashion is such a massive part of my life
This season, Bershka returns with a capsule collaboration with American singer/songwriter Conan Gray (@conangray). The collection captures Conan’s iconic unisex style and persona by giving a new spin to classic denim pieces, knitwear sweatshirts, and fun accessories.
Playing on the restless, free-flowing vibe Conan brings forth in his art, the key looks of the collection all fit within his unique aesthetic. Standout pieces include an oversized mohair-styled cardigan with a heart logo, a fleece-lined denim trucker jacket, distressed “mom” fit jeans and off-the-hook carrot-leg cut corduroy pants.
Other items that stay true to Gray’s style are the ’90s style cropped ringer t-shirt, the Conan Gray logo hoodies, a Conan Gray cropped crew neck sweater, and a vest featuring his breakout single “Maniac” slogan.
Shirts go romantic with an edge, featuring two short-sleeved shirts – one with symbols and another with roses print all over. Accessories follow the same versatile idea – a black beanie with heart logo, silver necklaces with pendants, and a charm earring set.
Gray started out uploading vlogs and covers to YouTube as a teenager. His debut studio album, “Kid Krow”, was released in March 2020 and reached number 5 on the Billboard 200, making him the biggest US new artist debut of 2020. After the worldwide success of “Maniac,” his last breakthrough single “Heather” just charted at number 20 on the Billboard global 200 – and is one of the biggest songs in the world right now.
CONAN SAYS…
How did you feel creating your own capsule collection?
It has been so exciting to work with Bershka for this capsule collection. Fashion is such a massive part of my life. It’s how I express myself. Getting to go behind the scenes, turning sketches in my notebooks into actual pieces for the collection was incredible to see come together.
What do you like most about Bershka?
What I love so much about Bershka is the way they create clothes that are simultaneously loud and exciting while also being very wearable. Their clothes can be worn up or worn casually. I have been wearing Bershka well before I had the opportunity to work with them!
What does it mean for you in the fashion world and what does it represent for you?
Fashion is so essential in human life. We live in it. To be able to contribute to Bershka and their world is very special.
ABOUT CONAN GRAY:
Conan Gray’s story began on the internet. Growing up in the small town of Georgetown, Texas, when he was 12, hope came through songwriting and forming a direct connection with people on the internet. In 2018, his song “Idle Town”, cooked up with a cheap mic taped to a lamp, took off.
Conan engaged with listeners through consistent contact and content on YouTube and social media as they watched him further hone his talents as writer, performer, musician, and artist on social media.
YouTube especially offered a window into his world. He posted everything, from drawings and photographs to personal moments. Along the way, he honed his craft, sharing the music discovery process with viewers too. Starting at age 12, he shot, edited, and uploaded every video by himself. As his fan base grew, so did his fearlessness as he opened up more in the Vlogs and songs, paving the way for a lasting connection. A musical artist uniquely broadcasting his personal development in this fashion, he endeared himself to millions who watched him grow.
Conan Gray’s debut album, Kid Krow, claimed the “biggest new artist debut of 2020” and #1 Pop Album upon release. Recently he received rave reviews from Taylor Swift and Sir Elton John himself who said Conan is “the only person in the American Spotify Top 50 to actually write the song without anybody else” and “Conan you inspire me.” Billboard, Forbes, HITS, and OnesToWatch have shortlisted him for a possible “Best New Artist” nominee in the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards and both Billboard and Forbes named Kid Krow as one of “The Best Albums of 2020 (So Far).”
He was named MTV Push Artist, Apple Up Next Artist, VEVO DSCVR, and YouTube Artist On The Rise and received critical acclaim from Paper, E! News, Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Forbes, Billboard, People Magazine, Fader, V Magazine and more. He has opened up for Panic! At the Disco, sold out all of his US and European tour dates, and made his TV debut on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
