The 16th Japan International MANGA Award now open to Filipino artists

Calling all Filipino Mangaka / Manga artists! Here is your chance to show your amazing artistry to the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, through the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, has announced that the 16th Japan International Manga Awards is accepting submissions. Aspiring Filipino Mangaka / Manga artists can submit entries.  The deadline for submission of entries is July 08, 2022

Interested participants need to submit a duly accomplished application form with their Manga work. Entries and filled-up application form can be submitted in any of the three ways:

     a) two copies of the printed work

     b) one copy in electronic form (PDF) 

     c) one copy of the printed work and one copy in electronic form (PDF)

Hard copies must be sent via a courier, addressed to:

Japan Information and Culture Center 

Embassy of Japan in the Philippines 

2627 Roxas Blvd., Pasay City 

For PDF files, entries must be sent to jicc-mnl@ma.mofa.go.jp with the subject: 16th Japan International Manga Awards. The email attachment limit should not exceed 10MB. The applicant must follow up with them if they fail to receive an acknowledgment email for the entry.

Only one entry per artist will be accepted. Eligible manga works need to be composed of more than 16 pages. Both published and unpublished works are eligible to apply, excluding the ones that won the past Japan International Manga Awards. Likewise, entries must also be produced within the past three years (2019-2022) from the date of application.

Successful entries will be recognized and shall receive respective prizes. The Gold Award of the Japan International MANGA Award will be given to the best MANGA work, the Silver Award to three excellent works, and the Bronze Award to other eleven works. Likewise, the Gold Award and the Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan approximately for 10 days on the occasion of the award ceremony as an extra prize.

Founded in 2007, the Japan International Manga Award aims to expand international exchange and mutual understanding through the manga culture.
