BTS GOES RETRO IN ‘DYNAMITE’ and how!

Even MJ and Travolta would have loved it

One night the world, or a big part of it, stayed awake was when music’s global force BTS launched last August 21 its single “Dynamite,” its first full-English single that was inspired by the ’80s, the disco era. It was meant to cheer up the world feeling so low in this pandemic.

And—it made music and digital media history: hitting more than 100 million views in YouTube in a little more than 24 hours, making it the music video to have garnered that number the fastest.

The Army worldwide—from Seoul to Syria—as the vast fan base of BTS is known, is still enjoying a hangover from the “Dynamite’s” retro feel and style: the MJ (Michael Jackson) moves, the a la “Saturday Night Fever” (think John Travolta) styling of bell-bottoms, vests, printed shirts, huge sunnies, and of course, the happy colors.

What’s interesting is that the BTS weren’t even born in the ’80s. RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, J-Hope, V, and JK are all ’90s babies.
