Six entrepreneurial students from De La Salle University-Manila recently organized “Perlas ng Silanganan 2022: Ang Negosyante ng Bayan,” a two-day online pageant that celebrated participants’ entrepreneurial abilities and showcased their capabilities through various challenges and activities. Four candidates participated in the Facebook Live event held on June 17 and 19.
Highlights from Day 1 included the candidates’ first runway showcase with the theme, “Modern Business Woman and Man.” In the challenge that encouraged candidates to embody their inner “negosyante” with a twist of elegance, Charlize Garcia emerged the winner. Lorenz Velayo bagged the top spot in the second challenge, presenting their portraits with the theme “Gawaing Pinoy.”
On Day 2, the second runway showcase “Modern Binibini at Ginoo” saw candidates promoting the relevance of patronizing Filipino culture through entrepreneurial ventures. Each candidate tapped into their inner “negosyante” once again in a two-minute business pitch that highlighted the products of s a c o., the event’s main partner. Charles Capalad was crowned the winner of the challenge.
Raffle draws for both Days 1 and 2 also made the pageant a memorable event for everyone.
At the end of the event, Lorenz Velayo was named second runner-up, Charles Capalad first runner-up, and Charlize Garcia grand winner. The event also donated a portion of its proceeds to the group’s chosen beneficiary: 75-year-old cancer patient Lola Conchita Sabale, who is currently undergoing various treatments for her condition.
