Face-to-face classes, new courses offered at Fashion Institute of the Philippines Ortigas Main

More than two years after the pandemic, the Fashion Institute of the Philippines (FIP) Ortigas Main is now offering a hybrid of online and physical classes. 

Among its subjects:

Basic and Advance Fashion Design. Discusses elements and principles of fashion designing, textiles and texture, fashion illustration, portfolio preparation, and other aspects to enhance one’s ability to create or design a collection. 

Students creating sleeves pattern for the advance menswear pattern making class.

Basic and Advance Patternmaking. Teaches you how to achieve the right fit and proportion through proper measuring techniques, construction of personalized patterns, and standard pattern blocks of various styles of skirts, bodice variations, sleeves, collars, and others.

Haute Couture Techniques. Explores new fashion ideas for designing apparel and the application of various high fashion sewing techniques used in the couture houses of Milan and Paris. 

Sewing courses. Emphasizes dressmaking, sewing operations and procedures, quality of stitching job, proper pressing techniques, darts, tucks, pleats, sleeves, and cuffs, hems, collars, and other technical sewing skills. Advanced classes include a more rigorous approach to garment construction. 

Childrenswear. Teaches drafting of basic pattern blocks for various clothing styles for infants, toddlers, children, junior boys and girls. 

Fashion Merchandising. Revolves around the business side of fashion and offers opportunities for the students who want to start their own fashion business. Their knowledge in visual merchandising, store display, and costing prepares them to become merchandisers, buyers, visual merchandisers, stylists, and product or brand managers. 

Fashion Marketing. Focuses on the setup and management of a fashion business, advertising and branding, introduction to basics of fashion marketing, creating your brand identity and design values, setting a unique point of view. 

Fashion Styling. Introduces students to both personal and professional styling through mastery of different body types, power dressing, styling for different occasions, accessorizing, and wardrobe coordination. Course also includes the elements and guidelines for a professional photoshoot. Students will accomplish a professional stylish portfolio. 

Fashion Photography. Provides fundamentals on digital photography, composition, studio lighting, concept-making, fashion directing. Hands-on training on glamour, high fashion, commercial, and freestyle photography. 

Other courses include Fashion Embellishments, Fashion Makeup and Hairstyling, and Digital Fashion Illustration.

Since its opening in 2003, FIP has taught its methods and techniques to thousands of local and international students, professional designers, business entrepreneurs, housewives and hobbyists, those pursuing second courses, and other professionals looking for the best technical and straight-to-the-point fashion education.

What makes FIP unique is its direct and hands-on approach to educating students. Moreover, students can choose their own subjects and move at their own pace.

No entrance exam is required in FIP, since the school believes that fashion is for everyone and anyone who is willing to learn.
