Milkwear celebrates Pride Month with a collection of optimism, hope
Now on its second year, lifestyle fashion brand Milkwear launches its newest designs in time for Pride Month.
Owner and founder Carlo Chu describes the newest Milkwear collection, “What makes it different is because of our message of hope and our sincerity to give back to our community. For this Pride collection our main handle is ‘Good Things Are Coming’”.
The objective of this collection is to be able to give hope while giving back to the LGBTQ+ community. “While we are creating/conceptualizing, this a lot of things have happened to us. As a nation we just came from a pandemic, series of lockdowns, devastation wrought by typhoon Odette and a lot of other uncertainties due to the elections,” Chu recalled. “But at Milkwear, we believe that despite all of those things…good things are coming. So we used it as our main message for Pride. We believe that Pride is a symbol of hope and it is timely for us to reiterate this message through the collection that we are releasing.”
At the same time, this new line has become an avenue to raise funds and give back.
The 2022 Pride collection is made up of six styles, from tees, tank tops and a sweater. “We want it to have a retro, casual cool look. We used ringer tees and color-blocked tees as our main design elements to bring some nostalgic fashion vibe to the collection.” The designs are fun, clean and minimalist where the rainbow, which has become the symbol of Pride Month, was incorporated in the sleek typography.
Part of the proceeds will go to Red Whistle, a health and human rights volunteer organization, a collaborative platform for people coming together to show their support for people of diverse SOGIESC. Also the proceeds will be used to rehabilitate the LGBTQIA+ communities in Siargao, devastated by Typhoon Odette.
It will be released online in June in the Milkwear website: www.milkwearstore.com and would also be available in official Milkwear shops in Shopee, Lazada and Glife.
