Bench launched shirts made out of recycled PET bottles, and YOU couldn’t help but rave about them
Leading local lifestyle brand Bench released its Bench Better Made line—a series of tees and collared shirts ranging from pastels to blacks, whites, and grays. Each shirt is made from 12 recycled PET bottles, combined with 60 percent cotton and 40 percent recycled consumer polyester.
The process
“We work with global accredited mills that are able to transform these bottles into yarn,” says Bench Creative Director Noel Manapat. “For now, it is more energy-efficient for us to work with mills that have the capacity to collect and transform waste into useful clothing materials, rather than to collect the bottles ourselves.” Once the yarn and fabrics are made, they are shipped to the Philippines to be turned into shirts.
The fit
In terms of fit, the Better Made tees have a loose silhouette suited for guys who want a more relaxed look. Collared shirts are perfect for those who opt to go preppy. Either way, Bench never compromises on comfort and style. Check out YOU’s shoot featuring the Bench Better Made line.
