Youth and Heroism in Philippine History by Mr. John Ray Ramos, 1–2:30 pm
Historian, author, and cultural worker John Ray Ramos is a history lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University. He has a bachelor’s degree in History and Master of Public Administration at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is the author of Bayani Biographies: Jose Rizal, Bayani Biographies: Apolinario Mabini, and the coauthor of Bayani Biographies: Andres Bonifacio, published by Kahel Press. The research interests of this scholar and culture worker include cultural policy and governance, heritage conservation, and public history.
He will tackle the young heroes such as José Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini, Emilio Jacinto. From the Reform Movement to World War II, he traces their stories to their youth, uncovering the inspiring experiences that shaped their courage and ideals.
Bangis ng Bagets: How the Filipino Youth Shaped Our Nation by Mona Magno-Veluz (Mighty Magulang), 4–5:30 pm
Known to thousands online as Mighty Magulang, Mona Magno-Veluz is a veteran genealogist and public history storyteller. A self–described “history geek” and “ninuno hunter,” she began building family trees in 2000 and has grown robust family forests since.
Aside from working with clients in the Philippines and overseas, Mona brings bite-sized history and genealogical insights to a broad audience online as Mighty Magulang. She explores how young Filipinos have always been at the forefront of change, as game-changers, truth-tellers, and freedom fighters. Learn about revolutionaries like José Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Jacinto, and Gregoria de Jesus, who took bold action for the nation with youthful idealism. See how today’s youth continue that legacy, using social media, creativity, and activism to fight for truth, justice, and a more humane, patriotic future.
Guests can choose to attend either lectures or both. All tickets come with museum admission.
Tickets are inclusive of museum admission, so you can explore the galleries after each lecture.
