After 3 years, teams are back celebrating the school spirit

Early 2020, things were beginning to be uncertain, with the eruption of Taal volcano in January, then the imminent lockdown due to COVID in March. All this led to the delay and eventual postponement of the Women’s National Collegiate Athletics Association (WNCAA) 50th Cheerleading Competition. What was the most awaited and celebrated event of the WNCAA and its member schools, especially since it was a celebration of the 50th year of the only women’s athletic league in the country, went on complete halt.

Fast forward to 2023, schools have gone back to face-to-face classes and live events are back. Finally, the WNCAA brings back the cheerdance competition in time for the league’s 53rd year celebration.

Ten member schools will compete in the college and high school categories on May 13, 2023, Saturday in the newly renovated Rizal Memorial Coliseum:

  • Assumption College San Lorenzo
  • Centro Escolar University
  • De La Salle Santiago Zobel
  • Miriam College
  • Philippine Women’s University
  • San Beda College Alabang
  • St. Paul College Pasig
  • St. Scholastica’s College Manila
  • University of Asia and the Pacific
  • University of Makati

For this season’s comeback event, the competition’s theme is the celebration of the return of the school spirit, where school drums and school cheers will be heard again.  It is picking up the pieces where the league left off three years ago.

For the 54th Season, the grade school category will make a comeback.
